We were approved for the loan and will be purchasing a 2008 Forester Sport 2.5 X. Not actual car pictured but same wheels and color.

Kinja'd!!!

Not my actual car.

Right now the car is getting a new head gasket, timing belt, water pump, brakes and tires. All Subarus that this dealership get go through this service.

So this is my first wagon (since my PT Cruiser was a light truck), first AWD vehicle and first non-domestic brand.

I’d call the Forester a crossover rather than a wagon (I’d call the Outback a wagon though)

I drove an hour to look at it and what the pictures don’t show is that the rear arch is rusting to bad that I could see it flaking off and when I told the guy I wasn’t interested he pounded on the spot with his fist and large chunks fell off. Then the guy coped and attitude like I was wasting his time by showing up at his place of business while he was open.

Awesome awesome!

They are great vehicles and that dealer is taking care of all the expensive bits that could go wrong!

My uncle had one for over 250k miles before trading it in.

That’s my favorite body style on the Forester. Not really suv. Not really wagon.

Yeah they are a great dealership it’ll be like a new car when they’re done and it was in great shape before.

They said they get every sport they can and cannot keep them in stock. In fact I got this one before they even put it into stock.

Nice! I love that the dealership takes care of the Subie issues with that thorough service. I’d see if you could get them to change the spark plugs while they’re in there, even if it costs you a couple extra dollars. Subie spark plugs can be a PITA.

That was one of the things they are doing as well as a rattling heat sheild and some other things he listed off that I can’t remember.

I hope to keep this one nice, but it probably won’t be long before zip ties hold something together.

Yeah and they even warranty the car for 12 months 12k miles.

Sweet, welcome to the Forester club;

We bought our 2008 Anniversary Edition brand new off the lot, just turned 100k km this summer and has been an awesome subie. Fun, lots of room for the family, gets groceries on friday, rallies all weekends, drives my wife to work on monday..

Kinja'd!!!

Don’t forget to go register at sf.org; lot’s of ideas and great people.

Seems a lot like they call it an SUV. I’ve never seen them call it a wagon. For that matter they don’t call the Outback a wagon anymore either.

2017? wut?

2008 -VIN = JF1 SG ********

S- Forester

G- Wagon

Kinja'd!!!

in 2009 the model went to the ‘CUV’-ish SH - I would agree with you if we were taking about them, or the new SJ models.

But the original SF and SG are wagons according to the manufacturer.

I’m down in Florida so subarus are kind of few, overpriced, and far between.

I know one like that would be gone so quickly

You’ll get a lot of use out of it! Especially in the next few months

Yeah well here in Maine you trip over three every time you turn around and they hold their price very well. I’ll give it a workout for sure.

Same as my Subie! I have a 2008 Sports X as my daily and I love it. Only thing I want to change on it is the clearance and get a 2" lift kit. Other than that the car is pretty much perfect for everything but mud and rock crawling.

I love it here. I moved to Mass for college and swore I was never coming back, but the more places I went the more I liked Maine and so here I am.

Check oil every other gas fill up, cause EJs tend to burn a little.

Because of the way boxers drain back oil you can see crazy swings in dip stick readings by letting it sit for an hour. Check and fill when it’s warm and recently been shut off (gas fill ups are perfect)

Use OEM oil filters (they’re cheap and good) and change your oil every 3k miles other than that the motor should be good to go for a long time.

Tires? Got some rowdy roads in Maine during winter?

Does the car have a tire pressure monitoring system?
